Why the Dragonfly?
Dragonflies have ruled the skies for over 300 million years. They have outlasted mass extinctions, ice ages, and a planet that has remade itself again and again. They are still here, still flying, still fierce. That is not luck. It is resilience, and it is the same resilience that runs through every woman who invents, builds, and dares to launch something the world hasn’t seen yet.
But let’s be honest about the world she is launching into. Over the last decade, only 4% of patents named women as their only inventors. Only 1.1% of venture capital went to companies founded solely by women. Women are inventing, building, and leading, and the system has not been built to back them. We are not here to ask for a seat at that table. We are here to build a bigger one.
The dragonfly knows something about that kind of fight. It spends years beneath the surface, growing in the dark while no one is watching, and then it rises. Every woman inventor knows that season: the sketches, the prototypes, the late nights, the doubt, the work no one sees. Every woman entrepreneur knows it too: the pitch decks, the rejections, the “come back when you have more traction.” The dragonfly doesn’t wait for permission to emerge. Neither should you.
And when it flies, it is a force. Four wings, each moving independently, let it hover, pivot, and change direction in an instant. It doesn’t chase opportunity. It anticipates where opportunity is going and intercepts it, with a success rate of roughly 90%, among the highest of any hunter on earth. That is how female inventors and entrepreneurs operate: agile, strategic, and relentless.
The odds were never built for us. We are building anyway.
She invents. She builds. She rises. She’s resilient.
Dragonfly on!
